Who We Are

The Society for Jewish & Disability Studies provides a framework for both Jewish studies and disability studies scholars to elevate their research and teaching by expanding the limits of their fields. By sharing successes, innovations, and best practices regarding Jewish and disability studies, the Society will normalize disability studies as a lens through which all history and religion must necessarily be explored, thereby empowering all scholars to approach their work with greater nuance and sensitivity.

Founded in 2024 by Helene Sinnreich, Hannah Zaves-Greene, Jennifer Glaser, and Sarah Imhoff, the group builds upon previous efforts to professionalize the study of disability and incorporate it into Jewish scholarship.
